The TM710 is used for on-line measurements of tobacco and is suited for all applications at any stage of tobacco processing in both GLT and Primary plants.  The sensor has been designed to be simple to use and is precalibrated for tobacco, requiring only a simple offset adjustment once installed on-line to ensure it matches the user's specific reference method. Its long term stability and dependability make it the favorite choice of tobacco processors and OEMs alike. TheTM710 has been designed to measure all types of tobacco, such as flue cureds (Virginias), air cureds (Burley), Orientals, expanded tobaccos and even tobaccos with inclusions such as cloves (Kretek) using one instrument configuration. The measurement is completely linear from 0 - 60% for moisture and so it can be used on low moisture applications such as diet (expanded tobacco) or high moisture applicationst such as stem expansion (40 - 50%) without compromise.

The Infralab is used at-line or in the QC laboratory by tobacco processors to obtain rapid moisture results without needing to refer to the traditional, time consuming oven test.  Infralab analyzes a sample for moisture in about 45 seconds and has been proven to be a reliable replacement for traditional methods.  It is ideally suited for the typical tobacco factory environment where literally hundreds of samples are processed every day as part of the quality control procedure.

NDC Infrared Engineering has very close relationships with the tobacco industry and has responded to the changing measurement needs. Recent measurement innovations include temperature, nicotine, total reducing sugars, and menthol. We have studied humectants and even triacetin in filter tow and now have installations providing these measurements.
