Infragauge 55 Blown Film Sensor On-line thickness measurement of blown films The Infragauge 55 Blown Film Sensor provides a continuous measurement which may be used to control the haul off or the extruder screw rate and allow film profile correction. The compact and rugged sensing head is normally mounted as soon as practical after the nip roller on the extruder. The Infragauge 55 blown film sensor is extremely easy to use, delivered pre-calibrated and requires minimal maintenance. |

Polyethylene The Infragauge 55 Blown Film Sensor measures the double-layer thickness of polyethylene on the lay-flat edge providing profile information for rotating die or haul-off extruders. It has a single calibration for clear, colored and pigmented (pigment levels up to 10% w/w) films, except for carbon black and metallic additions. This allows for the changes in color and pigmentation that frequently occur in packaging/bag manufacturing processes. Different grades of polyethylene, such as LDPE, LLDPE, MDPE, and HDPE and those containing copolymers such as EVA can be measured with the same sensor configuration. Other Films The Infragauge 55 blown film sensor can measure most common polymers. Customized versions are available for polypropylene (typically in a
thickness range 12-50 microns) and for PVC films to provide a plasticizer insensitive measurement.
