Increase Production efficiency with a versatile,
  high performance, stand alone sensor
Developed by Process Sensors in response to the demanding
needs of the processing industry, the Infrared Transmitter,
has been designed for integration into automated processing
systems. It's versatile design, allows it to operate as a single
discreet gauge or as a sensor in a multi-point network.
The Infrared Transmitter's 'sensor only' desing eliminates the
need for a central processor and associated interconnecting
cables, simplifying the installation and reducing both initial
installation and ongoing maintenance costs.  The sensor contains
all the optics and electronic components to make the measure-
ment, plus provide both analog and digital signals for communica-
tion to host computers and controllers.
Operator Interfaces-The Infrared Transmitter offers users a
choice of interfaces for set-up, calibration and sensor
maintenance.

In the near infrared principle,
several molecular bonds absorb near infrared light at well defined wave-lengths.
The common bonds are O-H in water, C-H in organics & oils and N-H in proteins.
The absorbance level at these specific wavelengths is proportional to the quantity of
that constituent in the material.
Infrared filters within the sensor generate a sequence of light pulses.
One of these pulses is selected to be at the specific absorbance wavelength for the
Constituent to be measured, the others are selected so as to gauge the reflectance
properties of the material.  The pulses illuminate the sample being measured, reflected light is
collected and focused on to a detector.  The electrical signals from the sensor are processed
in a ratio to provide a value that is proportional to the constituent concentration.
Microprocessor electronics transform this raw value to provide a direct readout in % or other
engineering units.

with a joystick controller for operator access to
the internal settings of the sensor.  Password
protection is provided for security.

Laptop Computer- A Windows
based program is available that allows a
laptop computer to access the sensor's
internal parameters.
Selection of Calibration, Parameter Adjustments,
Diagnostics and Engineering Setup are available
together with a digital display and trend graph
for the measured constituent.
  Supports any kind of installation
The versatile design on the Infrared Transmitter makes all conventional NIR gauges obsolete.
The Transmitter may be configured to operate in a variety of formats. Typical installation
configurations are :
  Single Sensor Configuration
5.jpg (4135 bytes)
This is the simplest configuration. The Transmitter is
permanently connected to the wall mounted operator
     interface.
Desired output signals may be sent to remote displays
     and data logging system s.
  Multi-Drop Configuration
6.jpg (5212 bytes)
This format allows up to 16 sensors to be connected
to a personal or industrial computer.
PSC developed or proprietary software packages are
available to access each sensor and provide data trend
information. If desired, each sensor may be fitted with
a local display and the hand held interface can be used as
a maintenance tool to trouble shoot any individual sensor.
  Network Interface Configuration
7.jpg (8663 bytes)
This format requires each sensor to be fitted with an
    optional network interface module.
These modules allow the sensors to communicate
directly to a plant's data highway.
Tropical interfaces are : Fieldbus, Ethernet, Profibus, &
Device Net. Local displays and the held interface may
    also be used.
